In most cases, permission for a green retreat in your garden is not required.

Green Retreats have been specifically designed to comply with the permissible development legislation. However, it is likely you will need planning consent if any of the following apply:

• You live in a conservation area
• You live in a listed building
• The green retreat will be within 5m of your house
• The green retreat will take up 50% of your garden
• The green retreat will be between your home and a highway
