Do Garden Studios Need Planning Permission?
In many cases, garden studios fall under permitted development, meaning planning permission is not usually required. As a guide, they must be single storey, typically no higher than 2.5m near boundaries, and not take up more than 50% of your garden.

How Long Does it Take to Install a Garden Studio?
Most garden studios are installed in just 2 to 5 days, depending on the size, design and overall specification.
At Green Retreats, your garden studio is manufactured off site at our Buckinghamshire facility before arriving at your home. This approach means much of the build is already complete, helping to keep installation quick, efficient and with minimal disruption.

Yes, as long as it’s properly insulated. A high-quality garden studio should include insulation in the walls, floor and roof, along with double glazing, so it stays warm in winter and cool in summer.
Garden studios can usually be positioned close to your home, but placement depends on access, boundaries and overall garden layout. Our team will assess this during your design consultation to make sure the position works both practically and within permitted development guidelines.
A well designed garden studio can increase property value, especially when it’s fully insulated and connected with electrics and internet. It creates flexible, usable space that appeals to future buyers.
We offer a complete electrical connection from your house to the garden room at an additional cost, which will be confirmed at your design consultation. However, you are more than welcome to use your own preferred electrician for this.

Fantastic product and service to match
