I can’t speak for you, but it has been a long time since I made the time to sit down to read a magazine. There is something so satisfying about switching off and flicky through a glossy mag – like the good old days!
And whilst I don’t actually have a glossy Ideal Home mag on my lap (staying at home and staying safe!) I do have the modern alternative with an instant download copy onto my iPad! And I have to say, it’s just as satisfying (flicking the pages is much of a muchness to the real thing, so it does the job).
Ideal Home | The Feature
Ready-made garden rooms
…and how people really use them
We were contacted a few months ago by Ideal Home magazine about the feature. They wanted to reach out to some Green Retreats customers and interview them directly about their garden rooms and their experience.
We got in touch with a handful of customers to see if they were willing to partake in the interview directly with Ideal Home – and they very kindly they all agreed! We made the introductions, and then that was that – until now!
The magazine went to print this month and is now available to read! And we are blown away!
As always, Ideal Home never disappoints. This months magazine is a jam-packed full of the latest home and garden trends, as well as style advice and inspiration. With more time on our hands right now, picking up a magazine for a binge read throughout the day is a great way to keep busy – especially with their article on upcycling as a project for us to start!
… and of course, the double-page spread feature ‘A room with a view…’
The People Behind the Projects
1) Louisa Tudor and Family
– “I love its versatility”
Louisa runs a successful interior design business (louisatudorinteriors.com) and doesn’t her garden room interior just prove it! Louisa and her family use the extra space as a space for work and a study, as well as a chill-out zone for the children and even an extra guest bedroom if required.
2) Dean Cartledge and Family
– “We built our own pub!”
Dean has transformed his garden room into a pub! What a fantastic idea! Complete with two bar-top beer pumps and a large screen tv, Dean’s room is his retreat to watch sports and for his family to hang out with friends. Dean has called his space ‘Davy’s Bar’ after their much loved late great pet whippet – and we love this.
3) Alexa Bradbury and Family
– “No longer needs surgery!”
Alexa and her husband James were in need of gym space after they were advised that Pilates would help with James with a back injury. The purpose-built modern gym sits at the end of the garden at their home in London. James now has weekly private pilates classes in the comfort and privacy of his garden gym and has made all the difference to his health.
The Link – Making Space
The link that joins all of our customers is the desire for extra space. At Green Retreats, we sell garden room buildings – but what we have realised is what we actually sell in it’s simplest form is space. When our customers come to us looking for a garden room building, there is always a purpose in mind – and those purposes make every garden building we sell unique.
From garden offices that turn into global businesses, to artists studios for you to pursue your lifelong passion – each project tells a different story.
Tell us your story!
We’d love to hear from you! Now more than ever we are hearing of the great success stories that our customers are having with their extra space and their garden rooms. If you are our customer and have a story you would like to share with us, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.

Our garden rooms are priced based on the internal sizes rather than the exterior footprint, making it easier for you to plan your work space. A commercial unit from Green Retreats could end up saving you a fortune from the costs of renting a workspace alone. The price includes base, installation and VAT so there are no (nasty) surprises when it comes to final payment.
