About Our Garden Office Insulation
Walls
Our walls are designed to be both thermally and space efficient to ensures the best u-values and maximum internal space. Our wall thickness is 100mm, which includes 45mm of Rockwool insulation and a scientifically developed thermal vapour barrier called Photonwrap. This allows moisture to escape and it also reflects heat back into your garden room in the winter months.

Floor
The flooring of our garden buildings are constructed with 80mm polyurethane insulation sandwiched between two protective sheets.
The sub-floors of our garden rooms are engineered to sit clear of the ground to allow air to circulate and remove any risk of rising damp.
Roof
We use structurally insulated 60mm roof panels in our garden buildings. These panels provide decades of life expectancy, outlasting EPDM rubber and felt roofs that are often used by our competitors.
Glazing
All glazing across our insulated garden offices, as standard, is hard coated, low-e Pilkington K Optiwhite ‘extra clear’ double-glazing, which is argon filled and fitted with a Planitherm layer and Swisspacer providing superior insulation and energy efficiency.
Heating
A wall-mounted radiator is supplied as standard and is already included in the price of every building. Combined with our superior wall cavity insulation, this will keep most buildings nice and toasty in winter! Larger garden rooms might need an extra heating source. We offer optional upgrades of underfloor heating and even air-conditioning for complete temperature control.

Generally speaking, no! Garden office buildings are classed as ‘outbuildings’ which can fall within your permitted development rights meaning you don’t require planning permission.
Some properties and areas in the UK don’t have permitted development rights, so planning permission would be required. We can help with the planning application process on your behalf should you need it, taking care of the hassle for you.
Insulated garden offices and rooms are built using the same high-quality materials you would find in most new-build homes, making them as warm and comfortable as a room in your home. Every building from Green Retreats comes with a wall-mounted radiator included in the price as standard, helping to keep you warm and toasty in the winter months. Plus, we have additional heating upgrades for complete temperature control and heating larger buildings.

Fully insulated buildings start from £9,860 for a self-build garden room or £11,725 for a fully installed building. The insurance-grade doors and windows keep your garden office secure. The premium double glazing is designed to withstand considerable shock compared to traditional options.
The lower the u-value the better a material is at reducing thermal transfer, so keeping the heat in and the cold out! We have these measurements for our individual materials to give you an idea of just how efficient our buildings are! Each building is custom made to your specification (size, number of windows etc) so the total u-value of each building will differ. However, because we use premium materials to keep our insulated garden rooms warm you won’t need to worry about feeling the outside elements.
