Job: Purchasing Manager

The Company

Green Retreats are specialists in planning, constructing and installing luxury garden buildings, we are the UK’s largest and most trusted garden room company.

An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a Purchasing Manager. We are looking for a candidate with extensive experience in purchasing with previous experience working within the manufacturing industry. They will be responsible for developing a purchasing system, working with the company’s current in-house software and auto ordering systems. This role will be working closely with the inventory team.

The successful candidate will be expected to:

• Source and evaluate suppliers, negotiate contracts, and manage supplier relationships.
• Prepare and process purchase orders, ensuring timely and cost-effective procurement of materials.
• Monitor market trends and identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
• Ensure supplier price lists and supplier files are maintained and where applicable ensure price lists are amended to agreed price levels. Define maintain and/or implement supply agreements. Deliver cost savings as agreed with heads of finance to meet ongoing business requirements.
• Develop, implement and maintain negotiated price lists and agreed terms (carriage and payment) for designated suppliers
• Monitor and measure supplier performance against pre-agreed targets.
• Delivery performance of suppliers to be monitored.
• Collaborate with the finance department to manage budgets and forecast procurement needs.
• Calculate, analyse and execute purchase order quantities.
• Analyse inventory data to forecast demand and adjust inventory levels accordingly.
• Analyse & recommend actions to address slow moving and obsolete stock
• Responsible to maintain and optimise company inventory levels. Establish, maintain, and review target stock levels and safety stock and minimise stock expiry and write off

Skills required

• Experience in purchasing/inventory with extensive experience in the manufacturing industry
• Solid track record meeting substantial material cost reduction targets
• Ability to identify processes needing improvement, and to recommend improvements.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organisational and problem solving skills.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks, with awareness of deadlines
• Excellent negotiation skills
• CIPS certification (preferred)

Pay and conditions:

• Monday – Friday 9am-5pm including a 30 min paid lunch break
• £45,000 per annum
• 20 days holiday plus all bank holidays (you will gain an additional 1 day holiday for every year worked at the company (maximum of 3 additional days)
