TEEN DEN | GARDEN TEEN DENS
Sometimes it’s easy to forget that our teens need their own space too. The versatility of our garden rooms means that our spaces can be used for many different purposes, including teen dens.
A teen den gives your kids the space they crave but allows you to still maintain a discreet, watchful eye on them. Rest easy knowing that they’re enjoying themselves at the bottom of the garden in their own space.
A teen den can also be used in a multifunctional way with the addition of study space for when they need to get their heads down, as well as a place to bring friends and let loose. Whatever size or design you’re after, we have a range to suit you and your teen.

UK DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION
A teen den is a recreational room for teenage kids to help them get some extra space and gain some independence.
Teenage years are incredible important formative years where children learn the extra responsibilities of being a young adult.
Giving your kids some extra space at home to let them explore their independence is a great place to start. As your children grow, space in the home becomes more scare and it can quickly feel as though you are living on top of each other.
Some extra space for your teen is a great way to give everyone in your household a little more room to breathe.
Creating a teen den in the garden or at home is easy! The hardest part is probably going to be finding the space to create a dedicated extra room for your teen.
Creating extra space at home with a garden room is a cost-effective and unique way to create extra space at home, whilst being completely detached from the house for total privacy.
The essentials to create the perfect teen den would be a sofa (or even better a sofa bed for having friends stay over),wifi or internet connection, a TV and a sound system or speaker. Then decorate with soft furnishings and pictures or posters that are in their style to help them make it their own.
If you’re looking to create a teen den garden room, then you’ll be glad to know that adding a garden room to your home is simple and straightforward, with planning permission generally not being needed.
Garden rooms fall within your permitted development rights which apply to the majority homes in the UK. To find out whether you have permitted development rights at your home, check with your local planning council.
Absolutely, our garden room buildings are fully insulated and weatherproofed using breathable materials for a healthy habitable space all-year-round. What’s more, every building comes with a wall-mounted radiator included in the price to heat the room in the colder winter months.
We also have a range of heating upgrades which include air-conditioning for total temperature control. Find out more about our building materials and methods…
Yes, you can. Whilst we don’t carry out any plumbing work ourselves, we will be happy to liaise with your chosen plumber to make sure they are comfortable with the building construction in order to fit a bathroom or kitchen. We can also bear this in mind whilst you are designing your garden room den with us, helping add partition walls, extra electrical points, waterproof lighting and much more.
We do not offer a completely soundproof garden den solution – however we do have an acoustic pack that we can apply to your chosen design which helps reduce the transfer of sound by uptown 45 decibels. The acoustic pack includes materials and treatments that we apply to our buildings, including acoustic glass – but please bear in mind that having as little glass in your building as possible is the best way to reduce sound transfer.
We offer two solutions for internet connectivity. The first is called ‘Home Plug’: Simply insert one of the plugs into a wall socket and connect the included patch cable into your home router, then insert the other plug into a wall socket in your garden room. This method sends your internet signal through the power network of your home and replicates your home Wi-Fi in your building. The second solution is to run a full armoured CAT 6 network cable from the router in your house to the garden building. This will usually follow the same route as your main power cable and we can quote for this at your free design consultation.
