Make It Yours
Your Basebox building is your blank canvas garden room for you to transform into the perfect extra space. For our Installed buildings we have a range of options available that our teams can fit during your installation. For the Self-Build option, you can personalise your building yourself or by using a contractor.
Foundation
A level ground and a suitable foundation is required for your Basebox building.
Installed Option: Save the hassle of doing the foundations yourself or using another contractor by opting for our foundations’ pack. Our unique, tried and tested foundation system uses polymer crate system for an efficient and eco-friendly installation, ensuring your garden room is perfectly level. This will be laid prior to your building installation date.
Self-build Option: All foundations work will need to be carried out yourself or by a contractor.
Electrics Pack
Get connected and add electrics to your Basebox garden room.
Installed Option: Our installation teams can fit an electrics pack as part of your installation as an optional extra:
- Pack 1:
2 surface mounted double sockets, 1 panel light, consumer unit, 1.5kW oil-filled standing radiator. - Pack 2:
4 surface mounted double sockets, 2 panel lights, consumer unit, 1.5kW oil-filled standing radiator.
Self-Build Option: Your preferred electrician or local contractor will easily be able to fit your choice of electrics to your building once you have completed your self-build.
Deck pack
Installed Option: Opt for a stylish and practical deck step to the front of your building.
Self-Build Option: Not available to purchase as a self-build option.
Paint pack
The exterior cladding of your Basebox needs to be painted using outdoor paint within 6 months of installation.
Installed Option: Choose our paint pack to have your building pre-painted by us before installation from our three premium paint options: a modern black, smokey grey or chic sage green.
Self-Build Option: You can paint your building yourself using your preffered colour during your self-build, or any time during the first 6 months.
Floor pack
Flooring can be easily fitted to your basebox garden room.
Installed Option: Choose from our oak, grey or white laminate flooring which will be professionally fitted by our installers.
Self-Build Option: Fit your choice of flooring yourself or instruct your chosen contractor.
How It’s Made
Our Walls
Crafted in-house using pioneering eco-friendly materials, the panel walls consist of a thick 9mm white MDF board with 75mm thick eco-polymer foam insulation.
The exterior cladding is a treated recycled composite made from sawdust from the milling industry, primed for resistance against rot and decay.
Flooring
The flooring is designed to prevent any potential dampness from rising by promoting air circulation. Additionally, the garden building subflooring sits above the ground level to further ensure this. The 80mm polyurethane insulation is supported by a 1mm powder-coated steel on both the top and bottom to keep the flooring protected against all-weather types.
Roofing
The garden building roofing is made with a thick 80mm insulated steel panel that is reinforced with a 1mm powder-coated steel.
For further structural integrity, the roof has an added 0.5mm galvanised steel sheet to reinforce the panel. The roof’s design is slightly sloped, enabling effective water runoff to the rear guttering system and down-pipe.
Glazing
The glazing is made with Pilkington K Optiwhite’ extra clear’ double-glazed windows and doors that are hard coated, low-e, argon-filled, and fitted with a Planitherm layer and Swisspacer. This advanced technology ensures exceptional insulation and energy efficiency.
Guttering
The 4″ wide guttering further ensures the longevity of your garden pod by effectively managing excessive water flow, preserving the pod’s structure so you can enjoy it no matter the weather.

Basebox FAQs
Yes, the installation of the foundations is an optional add-on for the Installed Option building. For our Self-Build Option the foundations will need to be preparred yourself.
Basebox garden pods are typically installed at your site within 1 to 2 days. For the Self-Build Option we would advise that you allow 2 full days for 2 people to complete the build.
Basebox garden pods offer excellent insulation to warm you in the coldest months. The Installed Option Electric Pack also includes an oil filled radiator for additional comfort in the colder months.
No, residing in a garden pod is not permissible since it is not designed to meet building regulations for habitation. Such action would void your warranty with Green Retreats.
You’re typically not required to obtain planning permission for a Basebox garden pod since its height is under 2.5m, making it eligible for your permitted development rights. However, if you do find the need for planning permission, our friendly team is here to assist you through the process.
