Why The Customer Needed A Garden Building
The Cartledge family live in a four-bedroom new-build house in Dorset. The family were looking to create extra space at home for a unique extra lounge space, where they could enjoy their favourite tv programmes (sports or shows) in peace without disrupting the other members of their household.
Not wanting to go through the hassle of a full extension the family looked at the option of a summerhouse, but after some research, they found that by spending just a bit more they could get something solid and insulated for year-round-use.
What We Did
Dean and Lynda found Green Retreats garden rooms and chose a 4m wide by 3.5m deep G2 as their solution. That our buildings don’t require planning permission was a big selling point to them; saving time and money. Our garden buildings are also fully insulated and built using premium grade materials throughout, making them the perfect choice for something more substantial than a summerhouse.
Dean opted for some optional upgrades to make his building perfect for what he wanted; including underfloor heating, bi-fold doors and plastering.
After our job was done, Dean further personalised his building to create the ultimate garden bar or garden pub! Complete with a standing bar, two bar-top beer pumps, wall-mounted TV and large corner sofa. The finished result is absolutely stunning!
The Finished Project
A Garden Pub
The Garden Bar that Dean has created is a unique space that every member of the family can enjoy. The bar has been given the name ‘Davy’s Bar’ after their late much-loved family dog – we love this!
Dean says “I watch the football and rugby league in here with my son, Louis. He also hangs out in here with his friends as it’s much cheaper than them all going to the pub and they can watch whatever they want on the TV.”
As you can see, the Cartledge family have a large garden that could have accomodated a much larger building – but this is a perfect example of where a modest sized building fits the bill perfectly. Dean says “It’s not a massive space, but it doesn’t feel cluttered”.
After seeing Davy’s garden bar, we all want one! We’ve started saving some ideas on our Garden Bar Pinterst board, why not take a look!
