Why Were The RSPB Looking For A Garden Room?
RSPB Middleton Lakes welcomes thousands of people onto their beautiful, natural reserve every year, and for this reason, they required a visitors welcome and information centre, or, as they’ve aptly named it, The Welcome Hub. Due to the natural environment, the chosen building had to blend into the surroundings but still be striking enough to attract visitors.
With a passion for sustainability and a powerful eco-policy, Green Retreats seemed to be the perfect choice for the RSPB.
What We Did
Green Retreats assisted the RSPB Middleton Lakes with designing a building that would suit their intended purpose while still remaining versatile. The welcome centre was to be a place to greet visitors, offer out information and sell refreshments.
The Green Retreats installation team attended the site to install a 6m x 3.5m G2 building clad in Redwood. Redwood is an ideal cladding for a building that would be exposed to all the elements in a wide-open natural reserve.
The Welcome Hub Finished Project
The Redwood cladding has helped the building blend into the natural beauty of the preserve without detracting from it. Due to the efficiency of the Green Retreats installation process, the RSPB were able to open the doors to their Visitor Hub and welcome all the enthusiastic visitors coming to explore the area and spot beautiful wildlife.
