8th January 2020

After a month of indulgence and luxuries – it might be time to get yourself back on track. With the new year in full swing then hopefully you have decided on a new year resolution – if not then you’re in the right place!

Find Your New Year Resolution

What will you decide to make your goals for 2020? Whether it be an achievement at work, or wanting to lead a healthier lifestyle this year – it’s always a good idea to plan out the things you want to achieve this year.

New years resolutions do not have to be a big commitment, you can find one that is practical and best suited for you. For example, rather than practising veganism permanently, why not just incorporate veganism ever so slightly into your regular diet. With the mindset of ‘new year new you’ you can achieve so many things – and what better opportunity to start off a new decade on the right foot than with a realistic goal in mind for the year.

So if you don’t already have a new year resolution in mind, we are here to inspire you with some of these popular and effective new year resolutions!

Save Money

This is a year-round goal we are pretty sure that everyone sets themselves however, it is much harder than it looks! With bills to pay, families to look after and everything else that life throws at you – saving can be difficult.

One of the best ways to save money without thinking is by putting your loose change to good use. Buy a money pot and whenever you end up with coins – even if they’re copper! Add them into your coin jar – because every little helps! Take a look at these money jars. Another popular way to save that has been in the media recently is the 365-day money saving challenge. By using this saving method you could save £1500 by the end of 2020 without even noticing. On a Monday you put away £1, Tuesday £2, Wednesday £3 and so on. Collectively by the end of the year, you will of saved £1500 by adding just a few pounds each day.

Take Up A New Hobby

Do you have a childhood hobby that you maybe outgrew? You’re never too old! Why not reminisce by taking up your once favourite activity. Having a hobby is great, not only does it provide entertainment, but also structure and routine to your lifestyle.

As well as this, it’s also a great way to socialise and mingle. So if one of your goals for the new year is to channel your inner social butterfly then this is the perfect opportunity! If you don’t have any hobbies that you’ve tried before – sign yourself up for something new! Like yoga, art, football, tennis – anything you want! Healthy Eating

One of the most popular new year resolutions every year. Healthy eating doesn’t only aid in losing weight, it promotes a healthier lifestyle and improves well being. You are what you eat! And that tired, sluggish feeling after eating a greasy or unhealthy meal is a perfect example of this.

With veganism being such a huge topic at the moment, people are trying to incorporate veganism into their everyday lives. This can simply mean cutting down on dairy and meat products rather than completely abolishing them. So keep this in mind as you go into the new year, there are plenty of health benefits to cutting down on meat and substituting it for something else, so this might be something to keep in mind.

If veganism isn’t your style, there are still plenty of ways you can eat healthier this year. With diets, increasing your water intake and reducing the amount of bad stuff you put in your body you will feel a dramatic change. A popular way to incorporate fruit and vegetables into your diet if you don’t particularly like them is with smoothies. Smoothies can be a mixture of fruit and vegetables and are a great way to get veggies into your diet if you don’t like them. Adding kale or spinach to your smoothies doesn’t change the taste but means you get veg into your diet without having to actually eat it.

Fitness

Another favourite resolution. Fitness is extremely important and gives your routine. Most people tend to visit the gym before work in order to start their day energised. However, if you prefer going after work this is also fine and can help you tire yourself out ready for a good nights sleep. One thing that stops some people from making fitness their top priority is they do not like going to the gym. Gyms can often get busy, especially at this time of year. You may feel uncomfortable with people around watching what you’re doing if you’re new to the gym and aren’t entirely sure what you’re doing yet.

If this is what is stopping you, why not bring the gym environment to the comfort of your own home? Home gyms are a massive trend currently, and allow homeowners to exercise and keep in shape at home. Our garden buildings provide the perfect space for gym equipment, and a private haven to keep fit undisturbed.
