FAQs

A garden room is a freestanding building separate from the home to create a luxury space designed to work, relax or play in. By opting for a quality built and insulated garden room, you can create space that can be used all year round. Discover more about garden rooms.

In most cases, garden room buildings in the UK do not require planning permission as they fall within permitted development rights. There are a few exceptions, including your location and where you want to place your garden room. Read more about garden rooms and planning permission here.

A garden room provides space for endless uses, including a garden office, home gym, garden art studio or even garden bar entertainment space. The benefit of choosing an insulated garden room is it can be used all year round, just like any other space in your home. View all our garden room popular uses.

A garden room cannot be used full-time as self-contained living accommodation as this falls outside the permitted development rules. However, you can use a garden room as an occasional guest bedroom.

Great news, a high-quality garden will add value to your home or property as it is extra space that is useable all year round. In a recent study by Rightmove, garden room home offices were revealed as the number one desired feature by homebuyers today. Find out more about how much value a garden room will add.

A garden room typically takes between 2-5 days to install by Green Retreats. This can be longer when upgrades such as plaster are chosen. Read our complete garden room installation timeline guide here. Garden Room Installation.

Yes, a garden room building will require a solid base before installation of the building. Our prices include our base/foundation system; therefore, you do not need to source this externally. If you have an existing concrete base, this could also be used, which will be determined at your free design consultation

Yes, installation is included in the price of our garden rooms. We do not outsource any work, only using our trained installers to construct your garden room.

To make things simple, our prices are transparent and include all of the ‘essentials’. This includes installation, VAT, base/foundations, doors and windows, internal electrics, heating, lighting and much more. Read all the elements that are included in your garden room price here. Options.
