Small Garden Bar
It’s time to think about your garden as an outdoor entertainment space! Great for all-year-round entertainment. Create a modern and exciting space with a small garden bar.
Garden bars are perfect for solving all your entertainment needs. At Green Retreats, our garden rooms come in all shapes and sizes, so you can easily fit your small garden bar into any size garden, and it doesn’t usually require any planning permission!
Small garden bars aren’t just restricted to small gardens; large gardens can also have an intimate garden bar! You can have your garden room be exactly how you imagined without compromising your garden space.
A Year-Round Space to Entertain and Relax
A garden bar offers you the perfect entertainment space all year round. Our buildings are fully insulated using premium materials, similar to those found in modern new-build homes. So no matter the weather, come rain or shine, you can still enjoy entertaining your guests outside in your unique and stylish garden bar.
How much would a Small Garden Bar cost?
For the perfect-sized small garden bar, a 4m x 3m internal space is ideal – although you might be surprised just how much you can achieve with a building even smaller than this.
A 4m x 3m space would allow for a bar cabinet to fill with drinks, glasses and snacks – whilst also leaving plenty of space for a relaxing seating area to stretch out into for 4-5 guests.
We are transparent about the pricing offered on our buildings, always listed up-front with all of the necessities included in the base price. Check out our prices here…

Installing your Small Garden Bar
Step 1: The Base/ Foundations
The base of your garden room is normally completed 1 week before your installation date, this gives time for the concrete to set. The base takes around half a day for our teams to create and test.
Step 2: Building Your Garden Room
Installation of your garden room is usually complete between 2-5 days with the main structure being weather-tight by the end of the first day. Plastering and painting options make the completion date for your building several weeks later.
Optional extras are also available with your building, giving it that extra touch of luxury which may increase your build time.
Do I need planning permission for a small garden bar?
Planning permission is rarely required when it comes to garden room projects. A small garden bar would still fall into the criteria of generally not needing planning permission. This is because your small garden bar fits into the permitted development guidelines as it’s classed as an ‘outbuilding‘, which means you can build on your property as long as your building complies with the permitted development guidelines.
Why a Small Garden Bar could be useful for creating the perfect space?
A garden room converted into a small garden bar could be the solution you didn’t know you needed. A dedicated space at home but away from the rest of the household.
Dynamic enough to change to your needs so you can party all night long, knowing you won’t disturb anyone in your home. Plus, with the added bonus of having everything at arm’s length, making it the ultimate adult getaway.
Make the most of your space
Garden buildings are completely versatile spaces that can be used for more than one purpose.
We offer the option of partition walls with interior or exterior doors to help our customers create completely separate and distinct uses for their garden rooms. Imagine creating a space that suits all your needs! A door from your small garden bar that leads into your man cave, home gym, or even a private garden office.
Another thing that makes a garden room so versatile is that you can completely repurpose the space at any point. You can drag and drop your interiors to create a brand new room without limitations.
Case Study
Dean’s Garden Bar & Pub
Dean’s family live in a four-bedroom new-build house, and the family were looking to create extra space at home without going through the hassle of an extension. After some research, they found their solution which allowed them to create a unique lounge space where they could watch their favourite tv programmes (sports or shows) in peace without disrupting the other members of their household.

5 Garden Bar ideas to bring the party to your outdoor space
Think about a theme for your small garden bar and how you want it to feel. Here are some elements to take your garden bar to the next level ↓
- Games – Add some extra fun to your outdoor space with some classic bar games, like a dart board!
- Pop of neon – Neon signs are a great way to elevate your interior, giving it the ultimate bar vibe.
- Bar accessories – Small details matter, especially when you want to impress your guests. Consider investing in some appropriate glassware and a cocktail kit.
- Drinks & snacks – Give your guests the bar experience with a menu of selected drinks and snacks.
- TV & Music – Adding a TV or speaker could be a great plus for your small garden bar to create atmosphere
Another great way to elevate your garden bar could be to think outside of your garden bar and think about its surroundings. A seating area around your small garden bar would create a pub garden feel, or create a bbq area nearby for a complete bar dining experience.
